Join me in supporting real change. Let’s support good in the world and make a difference. Help us give a pathway out of poverty for our children for Umoja Partnership

Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for Umoja Partnership

The success of Umoja Project's primary school lunch program means that more children than ever are finishing Class 8 primary school. In addition, more students than ever are meeting the end of primary school test (KCPE) scores to qualify for scholarships.

The Umoja Partnership is raising funds to close the gap between those who qualify and the number of children we can support for secondary school (Kenyan high school).

Our goal this year is to send 160 children to high school. The Kenyan government funds some of the cost, but each child still pays an average of $250 for one year of secondary school. When we fund a Form 1 student in their first year of secondary school, we commit to funding for all four years, for a total of $1,000. The Kenyans have continued to support 14 scholarships between local leaders, alumni, guardians, and the teachers union.

After secondary school more and more of our beneficiaries are scoring well enough on the KCSE exams to go on to colleges and university but lack of finances prevent children from attending. Umoja currently supports 60 beneficiaries as they pursue degrees in medicine, nursing, economics, accounting, teaching and more. Just $1900 will send a child to post secondary education.

I come from a humble background!! On my profile is a photo of me in 4th grade getting TLC after dislocating my elbow in a P.E class. I had to have my boombox of course! Education was absolutely critical in my family. As a Kenyan medical school graduate I personally cared for orphaned children, with HIV themselves, or their parents who later died of the disease. I am thankful for organizations like Umoja that stepped in and beyond treatment, reached out to support the education of these vulnerable children and their families.

This year, Emily and I are participating in a campaign to raise funds to guarantee an education for orphaned and vulnerable boys and girls in western Kenya. These funds will help pay tuition, buy uniforms and other essential educational materials. Please join me in giving a small donation to help our mission of educating Kenya’s future generation.

Your contribution provides a brighter future for students like Collins. After losing his parents, Collins joined the Umoja family in Class 6 (6th grade) and started receiving school lunch and other services. He is currently studying Electrical Engineering at Kisumu National Polytechnic. Collins explained that he became grateful for the holes in his roof because it allowed some light to come in: "God brings us the moon, so we can study."

You can bring light and hope to motivated Kenyan students who lack resources to continue their education beyond eight years of primary school.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if every Umoja scholar could attend high school and college?

Can you help us meet our goal?
