Education is the best path out of poverty for orphaned and vulnerable children. They do the work. We give them the chance. It's the only thing that can create sustainable change. Unfortunately, due to the trifecta of weather conditions in Kenya, the COVID-19 pandemic, and worldwide inflation, the costs of maize and beans have doubled to $50 per student for a year of their school lunch, and often their only meal in a day. Umoja is currently serving 5,444 students. We also provide additional weekend and holiday meals for 131 child-headed households.

Whatever you can give will go a long way. Just $50 will feed a hard-working, deserving student FOR A YEAR! If you have more resources, you can feed an entire school by providing grains alone for $4,225.

Any amount raised toward our goal will fulfill our purpose of keeping kids in school and offering them a pathway out of poverty through education.
