Don and I recently returned from 10 days in Kenya, joining 14 other members of our congregation, Northminster Presbyterian Church, to visit our partner Umoja Foundation. The church has been supporting UMOJA for almost 20 years.
We visited 4 of the 21 schools that receive Umoja support: a hot meal a day for over 5,000 students, school uniforms, blankets, solar lamps, and menstrual pads for orphan and vulnerable children. It is truly amazing the impact that this support has on the children, keeping them in school, giving them hope and dreams to continue to secondary school (high school), even university and medical school. We saw so much JOY, GRATITUDE, and HOPE in their smiles.
We were also to help build a mud house for a widow and her two children, working alongside members of the local community.
