Let's ensure 4,371 elementary-aged children eat at least one meal every day!

We are asking our key partners to rally their friends, family, and networks to support Umoja's transformational work. By starting this fundraiser for Umoja Partnership, you will help us provide relief and opportunity to kids living incredibly difficult lives and help your friends feel good about doing good.

Starting a fundraiser is easy to do, and it's fun! We'll even give you all the tools you need to make a difference. With your help, we can nourish the bodies of vulnerable children and ensure they are prepared to learn. Education is a pathway out of poverty for them, and our school lunch program is the first step toward helping them reach self-sufficiency.

No time to start your own fundraiser? You can donate personally, too. But please don't underestimate the power of sharing your passion for our cause with those you love. Your family and friends will be motivated by your example and may surprise you with their generosity. Philanthropy offers an opportunity to reconnect with old friends and perhaps even make new connections.

In a typical year, 25 feeds a child for a year but due to weather conditions, the COVID-19 pandemic, and inflation, the cost school lunch had doubled in 2022. We've also seen an immediate increase in the number of elementary-aged students qualifying for our School Lunch program. In 2021, 4,029 orphaned and vulnerable children qualified for our program. In 2022, we are serving 342 more, 4,371 students in total. In addition, Umoja provides weekend and school holiday meals for 150 child-headed households.

To reach all students in need, we will need to raise $50 per child to cover the costs for this year. That averages out to approximately $3,600 for each of our twenty partner schools.

Any amount raised toward our goal will fulfill our purpose of keeping kids in school and offering them a pathway out of poverty through education.
